About the buildings, the buildings are made from the Egyptian Pyramid mold. I sanded down the sides some and then carved into the front the steps leading to the top. The two smaller pyramids are actually the top of the pyramid and then flattened down to create Mayan inspired temples. These are ruins left from many years ago, hence vegetation has taken over parts of the island but have yet not colonized the pyramids. Yet. About the buildings, the buildings are made from the Egyptian Pyramid mold. I sanded down the sides some and then carved into the front the steps leading to the top. These are ruins left from many years ago, hence vegetation has taken over parts of the island but have yet not colonized the pyramids. Yet. About the buildings, the cathedral is made from a 1 inch block from the Roman Temple mold. The block was carved down to make the angled roof and to carve in the windows. The back of the church was a 1/2 inch block that was carved down and then a decorative top from one of the Hirst Molds. THe other buildings are all made from carving down the top of the battlements for the wizard tower mold. The interior uses flat tiles and also the stairs from the Prison Tower Mold from Hirst Arts. The stair does not continue down all the way because it was intended that a wooden ladder would be used to reach the landing and then the bell could be serviced. I am still looking for a good bell to add to the interior, just have had no time to make one or look for one. The interior shows more of the unbleached titanium since it should not be as weathered as the outside. I then painted a mixture of elmers glue and Wall texturizer, a type of additive for painting in houses to create textured paint. It was $2 for a bag and it is still 90% full after several projects! I then added leather brown acrylic paint to the mixture, a bottle that i got for $0.50 on clearance at Hobby Lobby. After the mixture dried I drybrushed the entire thing with a the same brown but with black and some red added. After that all dried i applied Woodland Scenics foam for the low grass and then woodland scenics tall grass. The rocks on the path are actual rocks that have recieved a wash of india ink. The paint job consists of spraypainting the finished model with flat black. I then dry brushed Crayola Portfolio Series Bronze Yellow onto the model. I brushed this on twice, the first application creates a dark green and then the second application creates more of a yellow. I then drybrushed the entire thing with Koh-I-Nor Drawing INk, Raw Sienna, then i applied a light drybrushing of Crayola Portfolio Series Unbleached titanum (off white) onto the model. I then reapplied a watery ink wash again with the Sienna. After that i applied a muddy black India ink wash to some areas. I think there was total of maybe 10 castings to complete the tower. Four castings of the custom molds which included the main portion of the tower, the four sides as one casting each from a different custom mold. The smaller odd parts were from different blocks, mainly the one inch and 1/2 inch basic blocks to finish parts of the sides. The detailed small roofed window, on the sides of the supports, were cast from the hirst molds and then added. The windows are done on clear acrylic sheets with the paint to create the window effect being made by Gallery Glass. The image was drawn on first with a fine tip paint pen, and then covered in the glass paint and sometimes i used the pen again ontop to bring out details that were lost. I think i have taken these images about 30 times with only these few turning out to be usable. It is not an exact duplicate, i took some liberites with some areas of the model, but it is passable as a model to use.
