By ONYX - Dec. 31, 1969 This Fortress was originally designed to represent a border fort of Gondor or Dol Amroth. I later added another set of customisable parts to also use it as a guard tower of Mordor. The whole thing is mounted on 24' x 24' MDF. Moulds used: -Basic Block Mold #40 -Gothic Additional Accessories Mold #44 -Wizard's Tower Mold #50 -Bridge Mold #53 -Bell Tower Mold #55 -Prison Tower Mold #60 -Turret Mold #61 -Octagon Tower Mold #63 -8" Round Tower Mold #64 -Ruined Tower Mold #65 -Egyptian Basic Block Mold #95 -Wall Builder Mold #200 -Small Brick Mold #250 The rocks on the cliff walls were made using Woodland Scenics rock moulds. The base (and cliffs) of the fotress is 50mm thick polystyrene. The easiest way to make the make the fotress customisable was to make the tops of the towers interchangable. The whole thing was painted using acrylic paint and aged/weathered using Woodland Scenics Rock colour pigments (Stone Gray, Raw Umber, Black and Green Undercoat). Once finished the castle was sealed with Matt Estapol funiture varnish for protection (this is a game board not just a display piece). Onyx.
