The Hirst Arts Express (corrected again...)

By NALOOMI - Dec. 31, 1969

Background:
I wanted to build something 'non-mainstream' for HADD. While looking at a 'scattering' of blocks on a table one day (Actually several castings while working on various projects, including a new sarcophogus design) I simply 'saw' a train.

So, I decided to build a train out of HA blocks. This was, initially, supposed to be an engine and a coal car, but life happened, so I was only able to finish casting/building the engine itself.

Molds Used:
40 - Basic Block (Filler)
42 - Gothic Arena (Front of Engine & Large Rear Wheel & Cow Cathcer)
43 - Gothic Panel Accessories (Top of engineer compartment)
44 - Gothic Additional Accessories (Support pieces)
70 - Fieldstone Wall (Skull)
80 - Dragon's Teeth (Deocrative Bits)
201 - Chipped Floor (Bottom)
250 - Small Brick Mold (Engineer section)
136 - I also used an old OOP mold for the Smoke Stack

Very inventive use of the blocks - I hope this model sparks off a rush of Hirst Arts trains. I'm sure your daughter will love playing with it.

Deffinitly interesting use of bricks on this one, I was thrown off by the colour scheme but fully understand the child like qualities the builder was working for. My only suggestion for change would be to place the skull at the front of the boiler, maybe sand the back down to fit.

I don't think I've ever seen a train engine built from Hirst Art blocks. There is a really interesting use of some of the blocks here.

It'd have been neat to see it with the other car too.
