 Haunted tower

By PREMPEL - Dec. 31, 1969

The malevolent spectre of the slain mage lingers over the ruins of the tower he inhabited in life, hungering for any unsuspecting adventurers who might come seeking his treasures.

Molds used:

Turret #61
basic blocks

Non HA materials:

The ghost is made of 20 ga Galvanized wire, shredded kleenex, and white glue.

The vines were created with jute macrame cord glued to the wall before painting, and the foliage is Woodland Scenics coarse turf, in various colours, highlighted with light green acrylic paint

Smaller pieces of rubble and soil were created by breaking up the coating of plaster left inside the plastic mixing cup.

The tree was formed of 20 ga galvanized wire, and coated with Durhams water Putty

Special techniques:
to create the broken pieces for the rubble, contrete patch was added to the ortho plaster. This caused some bubbles, but accelerated hardening, so I could un-mold pieces in about ten minutes. While they were still damp, they were easy to break by pushing a hobby knife into the pieces.

8.5" wide x 6" deep x 8" high (Total 22.5")

PREMPEL - to share my model building with other enthusiasts

Brilliant - looks like it has been abandoned for a century or more, and the ghost just makes it very eerie. The gnarled tree and foliage are very well done too.

Nice job. This just has a feel of a great illustration out of an old book of fairy tales... (you know the nasty old ones where witches eat kids and banshees haunt swampy ruins).

What a great aged ruin that has fallen back into the earth! This looks really old and overgrown. The spectre floating above just adds to that creepy feeling of an old ruin.

Overall a great build with an interesting basing!
