By RYLOS - Dec. 31, 1969Used Molds to create Ronjas Tower:
Measurement with base roughly 10high 7x7 wide, Measurement of Tower without base is 8 high and 5x5 wide
I had the idea to create a ruined field tower but to make it more realistic looking by using 2 rings of stones (because towers normally have wider walls than you would just get from the normal Bruce towers)
So I mixed mold 73 and 72 (Although the tower has a diameter of 5 inch, I used the stones of a 6 inch tower because you will not see the difference if you trim them a bit). To make the texture of the stones look more realistic and irregular (to optically break up the lines you get after each stone row) I insert modelling clay using a putty knife at various parts of the tower.
Finally I broke stones and used pieces of mold 75 to give it a ruined look at the top.
Base is created with hot wire tools. And I painted everything with acrylic paints. Colour scheme is oriented at Bruce sand stone one. Some green plants, grass etc. were added.
One important note: The tower is actually used for wargaming (warhammer) thus it has this base. Actually you can take it of the base as well as take out the steps. (Not shown in the pictures) This is to guarantee more gaming flexibility.
I named the tower after my girlfriend who has to endure my hobby sometimes. In addition "Ronja, the Robber's Daughter" is in Germany and northern parts of Europe a famous film and I guess the tower looks a bit like the hiding place of some robbers deep in the woods.
Hope you like it.
