 Fortress of Belfalas

By FRANK - Dec. 31, 1969

I got my first set of Hirst Arts molds nearly two years ago (damned expensive with the high dollar exchange rate and the shipping to Germany). After some standard buildings like the wizards tower, the Tomb etc. (and some really good inspirations from this fantastic homepage with special greetings to STEPHAN and TODD_GOSS for their fantastic buildings) I thought I have to go for something bigger. So I started the fortress.

Used molds:
Wizards Tower
Travellers Bridge
Tomb
Belltower (my favourite mold; I like the gothic arches very much)
Turret mold
Prison Tower
Wood shringeled roof
Wall builder
Basic building blocks

Because I hadn’t too much time to spare, it took me over one year to build this piece. Casting, building and painting was about 150 ours, I guess.

Measures:
Length 100 cm (about 45’’) width 50 cm (about 22’’)

I tried to build a fortress that fits into the Warhammer rules and also looks special and interesting. As you can see, I like the gothic arches. They give the castle a dainty and embellish but also strong appearance.
Most attention I gave to the main building of the castle, the palace.
