 Ruined Castle

By TODD_GOSS - Dec. 31, 1969

Except the accessories (barrels, creates, relief carvings, statue, cart, etc) one large door on a low tower and a few small custom arrow slits made by Tim Peaslee the castle is pretty much 100% Hirst Arts. I'm not sure about the size other than to say it’s pretty big. I used mostly blocks from the wizards tower, fieldstone, and wood plank mold and roof mold. The entry was from the travelers bridge mold and a few pieces were also used from the inn and octagon tower mold. I wanted the castle to look particle (read no whimsical wimpy eleven castles) and have an old hunted feel to it. I used both miscast block and a Roto Zip to get the ruined effect. Last some weeds and vines were added to top things off. I hope someone sees this project and is inspired to use some of the ideas to build there own ruined castle or tower, even if its on a smaller scale.

i like the concept behind this model, and there are some interesting detailed elements like the frieze above the entrance and the eagle on the reverse wall, i like the dragons teeth upside down as corbells as well - must remember that one - however what's going on with the red dry brushing on the walls?

kskyhappy - the impossible just takes a little longer
