 Merchants House

By HIGHLAND_PIPER - Dec. 31, 1969

I figured one day that I really had not built that many houses for my "city fight" terrain. I wanted a building with a small balcony and room enough for one of two squads to hide in if neccessary.

I also wanted the house to look like it was owned by someone with money, but not overly rich. So I started on the construction of the merchants house.

Molds used are

Fieldstone Wall Mold #70
Fieldstone Accessories Mold #71
Flagstone Floor Tile Mold #260
Wood Shingle Roof Mold #240
Wooden Plank Mold #220

other items used

1/4" subfloor board.

At the time of construction I did not own mold #220 and used a left over piece of board used as a subfloor. This was painted brown and a rug thrown over the top of it.

Paper Towels

Paper Towels were used for the rugs in the merchants house. An image was selected and printed out on thick paper towel. I use paper towels for rugs, carpets, wall hanging and pictures because you can get different textures for each piece you want giving it a realistic look.

When painting a new Fieldstone project I try to do something new, different colors, washes, etc.

For the merchants house I went with a Machine Grey Base coat instead of black. I then painted many of the stones with blue, then continued with different shades of greys and blues to finish it out.

i knew you'd be in here somewhere HP! suprised you didn't have a dungeon entry, well i'm a sucker for pieces which are designed with a gaming situation in mind, i think a projects merits should be judged on how good it looks and how well it fits it's design criterion(how useful it is).

in this case i can imagine how useful this piece is, in Warhammer FB i'm a bit of a hit and run man so this can go on my side of the field any day.

i like the way you experiment with colour, it gives us all more ideas, my favourite part of this is the chimney believe it or not, it adds a more realism to the piece and ofcourse the rugs, i don't think i'd be brave enought to feed that through my printer.

kskyhappy - the impossible just takes a little longer

Nice choise of color Highland,
The FS arches on the top of thechimney is a clever solution and the rug is absolute original.
