 Crypt Business Card Holder

By VOMITMEISTER - Dec. 31, 1969

The crypt is approx. 2"H x 9"W x 5"D and made with Excalibur plaster.

I used parts (sorry, I didn't keep track of the number of each) from the following molds:
Fieldstone Wall Mold #70
Fieldstone Accessories Mold #71
Dragon's Teeth Accessory Mold #80
Small Brick Mold #250
Flagstone Floor Tile Mold #260
A zombie miniature from Games Workshop.
Q-Tips for the flames

I also created a lid for the tomb by using Bruce's example for the small brick mold.

The project was built on a piece of thin cardboard so as not to scratch a desk top. For the painting of the crypt, I first spray painted the crypt with black paint. I then used an off white latex house paint, with varying amounts of colored paint added to get a variety of shades, to paint the rest. The zombie, flames, torch holders and gold skulls were painted using Games Workshop paint. The mold is Scenic Express Swampy Bog blended Flock & Turf. I also used a brown wash on the two dragon skulls.

I made the torches by scraping the cotton ends off of Q-Tips and pulling them apart. I painted them starting with yellow and then varying shades of red and purple.

The tomb is made out of the small brick mold. I was able to use the larger pieces for the back and floor. However, the front and sides needed texture on the inside and the outside, so I built them using individual bricks.

The tomb lid was made by pressing the tomb into a slab of modeling clay to get the size and depth I wanted. I then pressed parts of some Games Workshop lizardmen into the clay. I then filled this with Excalibur.

I know the tomb is a little large for the zombie, but I wanted to show some reason for the tomb being bashed outwards. Also, after I finished and took it to work, a coworker suggested completing the set with pen holders. Maybe next time I will replace the pillars with something that could hold pens.

a good concept, did you model all of the flames yourself? i do wonder whether a gothic tomb is the correct way to promote cuttng edge technology! lol. personally i'd like a business card holder with a pyre for contacts i don't like.

kskyhappy - The impossible just takes a little longer
