 Chaos Space Marine Lord

By BRIGUY385 - Dec. 31, 1969

Molds used:

Station Builder # 300
Small Brick # 250
Fieldstone wall # 70
F.S. Accessories # 71
Dragonsteeth # 80
Dragon's Inn # 51

Other pcs. used:

Head from an action figure
A small skull bead
Some yarn for hair
2 Cocktail pokers
a toy machine gun cut into three pcs.
2 eye hooks

Dimensions:

The base measures 3 3/4" by 3" and he is 7 1/2" tall to the top of the skull bead on the topknot.

Construction:

The Station Builder mold is one of the most useful and underrated molds out there, so I set myself the challenge of creating a space marine out of it. I started before I found out that Games Workshop was producing statue type figures. I searched through their ads and found a small picture of a Chaos Space Marine Lord that I liked.
The actual figure is standing on a rubble pile, but I had been looking for a good use for all the skull pcs. from the F.S. Wall Builder, so I tweaked it a bit.
The base is made from the Small brick mold. The feet and legs are pretty straight forward, mostly blocks from the Station Builder, Small Brick, and Dragonsteeth molds.
The crotch pc. gave me a bit of a headache, but I solved that by using 2 small triangular pcs. from the Dragon's Inn mold glued between two quarter orb pcs.from the Station Builder mold. The Dragon skull codpiece is from mold # 80.
The torso is nearly all Station Builder blocks, with a couple of small bricks added for the coller and lights on the shoulders. The connecting piece between the crotch and the torso is from columns from the Dragonsteeth mold.
The right arm is made up of blocks from the dragonsteeth, Station Builder, and Small Brick. this is where I had to do some sanding. I used a column base pc from the F.S. Accessory moldfor the arm pit area, but I didn't like the squared corners, so I rounded them up. The spiral column inner bicep pc. was also sanded to fit. Two of the larger column pcs. form the bicep. It is attached to the upper arm with small triangle pcs. from the Small Brick mold. The claw fingers are made up of the fang type decorative blocks from the Dragonsteeth mold. I cut one in half and then filed a circular ring around another. Then they were glued together and I made a latex mold.
The left arm is made just like the other, up to the big gun, which is mostly Station Builder. There are three muzzle pcs. from a toy machine gun for the barrells. The decorative teeth are from the Dragonsteeth mold, and were sanded to fit the contour of the gun.
The head comes from an X-men action figure, it was attached with epoxy putty. The ponytail for his hair is actually the small spiral column pc. from the Dragonsteeth mold. The top has a small skull bead with yarn for hair.
The backpack was made with mostly Station Builder blockswith others from the F.S. wall and Dragonsteeth molds. The exhaust ports were made by glueing two torches back to back. There are two more skulls on the backpack as well as two more on the banner poles.
The mace that hangs from his waist was constructed mostly from the Dragonsteeth mold. It is removeable, as I used two eye hook screws. one opened, to fasten it.
I didn't spruce him up too much, as I didn't want to go over the 30% mark. I did find a lot of ordinary parts that would dress figures of this size up. things like plastic picnic knives for saws, forks for claws, beads drywall anchors for missiles, pvc rocket launchers, etc...

Painting:

I'll have to spray paint the next ones, at least the main armor areas, as painting a mini of this size will really take a lot of paint. Otherwise he was done up just like a normal mini.

Overall it was a bit challenging to take an existing thing and make it into a block model. When I build more marines of this size, I will make a quick builder mold to speed up the process.

Thanks for looking

As Kskyhappy said you are bunkers or it is bunkers or what ever.
Totally twisted!
But nice to look at!

okay once is crazy - but twice thats just bonkers. When it comes to unique and imaginery concepts i think you've cornered the market, well painted, well assembled - great concept. i truly hope you are awarded something for this supreme effort.

kskyhappy - the impossible just takes a little longer
