By BRIGUY385 - Dec. 31, 1969 Molds used in construction:Fieldstone wall # 70 Fieldstone Accessories # 71 Dragonsteeth # 80 Flagstone Floor # 260 Other pieces used: 24 cocktail sticks 2 plaster cast barrells A small skull A part from a McDonald's happy meal toy A X-mas bulb cover Plaster floor and rune pieces Two skeletons made of clay Dimensions: 4 1/2" wide by 7 1/2" long by 6 3/4" at tallest point How this trap works: The adventurers would enter the topmost room from either side and notice the dry wooden floor. Although the floor is creaky it appears to hold their weight. Upon the wall there is a rune stone, hardly readeable by torch light, but lucky for them (sic) there is a large lantern on a table that just needs to be lit. When lit the runes can be read: If reading this you now can see Than surely lit the lantern be Thee lit more than simple wick For below your feet does your doom tick Heed these words for the seconds you have Your death twill be fast and soon at hand. As you may have alresdy guessed, there is a wick/fuse inside the lantern that runs to the room below. The room contains enough explosive material to blow out the floor above, causing the party to plummet down upon the metal spikes. The dry wood usually burns up quickly, but the clean up crew dosen't always get to the mess, as evident in the photos. Construction: This was a pretty straightforward room, the majority of it is made up of blocks from the Fieldstone wall builder mold. i don't have the large Flagstone Floor mold, so I made a custom 1 1/2" large F.F. mold based on Bruce's 1" tiles. I learned a valuable lesson when drilling through Flagstone Floors, in this case, to put the spikes through the floor. It is best to drill from the bottom flat piece through to the other side. The sticks were then glued in place. the TNT comes from a Mc Donalds Happy Meal toy. A truck from the Atlantis cartoon movie had a cargo pack on it that I cut off and made a mold of. The barrells are made from a wood craft piece, which I carved a wood grain texture in and then made a mold of. The skeletons were made by pressing a plastic Heroquest skeleton into sculpty, and then cooking it, thus making a press mold. The skull on the door of the bottom room is from a plaster casting of a rubber metal moulder toy mold. The top piece has a wood floor section that was made by using a christmas manger plaster casting kit. Unfortunatly, I do not have the Wood Plank mold yet, so I had to improvise. the table is made from two column base pcs. glued together and turned upside down. there is a X-mas bulb covering serving as the lantern's glass part. The runes were just poured into a lego mold box and then hand carved with a pick. The runes were taken from an early Dragon Magazine article, and actually spell out the poem above. Painting: The walls were done using the standard three part drybrush method, as was the wood floor. The Rune stone was done up in copper with ink washes and drybrushing. I applied the blast effect with a blow pen. Sadly, because of my poor digital camera, it didn't come out too goodin the photos. Thanks for looking
