The first and only materials you will need is a cork (preferrably one which tapers) from a wine bottle and your x-acto knife.

Step 1 - Take the cork and make sure it is larger than the knofe handle by some degree. The cork should also be long enough to cover your blade entirely. Now, stand the cork verticle on your work surface. Use your x-acto to cut off a quarter to a third of the cork on one edge. Try to make the cut as straight and precise as you can. This straight edge is now the non-rolling side of the blade cap.
Step 2 - Lay your cork down on your work surface and insert the x-acto knife into the end (the smaller end if your cork tapers) of the cork with the blade horizontal to the work surface.
Step 3 - Sit back and watch as the blade remains still... I had seen this done in the Fine Scale modeler magazine, however I fashioned the instructions myself. Scott
