Chapter Display Base

I build this to display my WH40K Marine miniatures on a shelf in my hobby room, and decided a stepped layout with some form of gothic wall behind it would be perfect. In order to complete it with a reasonable number of casts, I made a custom mold, which is pictured. Most of the pieces used to make the master for this mold came from the bell tower and tomb molds. I also used a casting from another custom mold to make the eagle above the pillar.

Other than 8 castings of this arch mold, I used basic blocks and pyramid blocks for the bunker/towers at the ends. The central gateway has two flanking towers which are derived from the bell tower plans. Note that the central sections of these towers are single pieces from another custom mold, which I made for my ArchMage's Tower.

The layered base is foam, as is the center door, cut and groved with a hot wire cutter. The center walkway is made from fieldstone tiles and blocks.

Painting is fairly straightforward - I used a stoney grey drybrushed with light grey. The actual color shows best in the indoor shots, for some reason.

Dimensions - The shelf is 4 feet long, and 11" wide.

One picture shows the final product on the wall in its intended role as a display shelf.
