This article describes programs that may be used to visualise blueprints, assist in developing new structures as well as having templates or brick patterns that may be used in such programs to download.
3D Design Programs
There are several good quality packages out there on the net that allow you to design and render Hirst Arts blocks, one http://www.rhino3d.com/ is slightly overpriced for the hobbyist, but has a demonstration version available for download. http://www.milkshape3d.com/ however is a freeware 3D modelling program that is similar to Rhino, but has less features.
LDRAW
LDRAW, is a freely available CAD package for use with Lego blocks, the real-life equivalent of Castlemolds products as it were, and there is an ongoing project to reproduce all the Castlemolds blocks in LDRAW format at Shadetree's website, which is http://home.midsouth.rr.com/bfletcher/ There are also files available http://www.speakeasy.org/~wolflord/ which are also reproduced on this website for convenience and both sites will be checked from time to time to ensure the latest versions are available for download from this website.
LDRAW is available from http://www.ldraw.org/ or direct to the downloads page http://www.ldraw.org/download/start/, and has two Windows clients, the best in my mind, and probably easier of the two to use is called MLCAD, available also from the LDRAW website, or the direct link is http://www.ldraw.org/download/win/mlcad
