My idea is a city in the trees. I want the miniatures to be able move about the city without too much dificulty. so I know sevaral things.

1) Scale is 1 inch equals 5 feet.

2)I'm not going to make the whole tree, basically I'm going to lnot have tops of the tree's (they'll still be there but for ease of building I'm not making 6' tall miniature trees which is about the scale size they would be). The village would be varied in height from about 15 feet of the ground for the lower class all the way up to the Kings castle at about 120 feet off the ground. In other words from 3" to 2'.

3) I'm not a good artist so I don't have any concept drawings. I guess thats my biggest issue is getting a design down that I can go off of. I can picture it in my head. but the whole putting it down on paper doesn't work.

4) Houses whould have separate buildings as rooms. a larger family room connecting to bedrooms and other rooms by stairs ladders and walkways. Also almost every building has some form of desk or porch.

5)I want there to be bridges between trees some very large that are main thourogh fares others private alleys that connet one part of a house to another.

Any Ideas or advice on how to build the trees them selves i.e material would be much appreciated.

I have done free standing bridges before. The trees can be made from anything hollow. cardboard tubing would work the best. use plaster paris, with newspaper and masting tape to fill out forms. wire for the branches with more plaster paris for the form. depending on how big you wanna make the city is up to you. I would probably make tree by tree. eye hooks with clips for the bridges so they are removable. and adaptable. I am working on my own at this point with the scrolling designs like in LOTR. will let you all know how it comes out in the end....:)
