 Lizardman Pyramid

By STEPHAN - Dec. 31, 1969

My first own building! Jippie! Get the Skink scribes, rush the Saurus workers, have the Kroxigors work. We are building a temple for Sotek.

After intensive study and meditation of the sacred golden tablets, Lord Qroqo Leda declared:

"There shall be built a three stepped pyramid with a height of 4cm per step, with a stairway that leads up to the sacred plattform."

"Further, the temple shall be decorated with ornate relief tiles showing snakes in large numbers. There shall be large tiles as well as small tiles for the complete impression of the temple to be well balanced."

"On the top of the pyramid there shall be a statue of Sotek himself, a snake in its magnificent majesty, ready to strike at the enemies of the lizardmen and purge the world from them."

And so it happened. Hundreds of stones were - er - cast, the Dragons Inn mold glowing red hot. The whole stucture is made of basic blocks as gothic arches semmed to be ... unfitting.

Not to waste precious stones the interior of the pyramid is made from styrofoam. I only had access to cm based styrofoam which did not combine very good with inch based stones, but as Lord Qroqo Leda keeps saying: "You not always get what you want..." The construction on the pyramid started at the top and working down I discovered that the structure would get larger than I planned (an error? unthinkable!) To be able to put figures on the steps they had to be 3-4cm wide (why didn't the Old Ones breed the Saurus a little smaller?) and the nice hand-rail had to be omitted - sadly.
