By DENNIS_BRYSON - Dec. 31, 1969 For this model I used the molds #51 Dragon Inn an #52 Circular Tower, the pieces were left overs from other projects but I guess you would need to cast both molds about 15 times each to have enough bricks to build it, which is a waste if you just want to build this cause the only bricks from the Dragon Inn mold I used are the little slanted ones from the roof. Total count of bricks used is 230.I started with the base and worked upward, this is a good project to use some of the bricks that are designed to add straight walls to round towers I used a few in this model, but you do not have to, you can just stack the bricks up on the outside. Once the base was done I built the middle section, this is a little tricky cause the outer half ring is ¼ inch higher than the bottom row (this is explained in much more detail in the plans) it was a little time consuming, cause you have to wait for the glue to be completely dry before you build up any more. Once that was done I started on the roof, once again a tricky part, I wanted a 180° window in the bunker an this made the roof fall in without any support so what I did was just keep adding bricks to the back half till it sat neat on top, an the finished design looks very futuristic as well. Once the whole thing was build I taped the three sections together an took a drill to it, three sized drill bits, 1/3 inch, 1/8 inch and 1/16 inch, the big drill is punched in about 1/8 inch an turned about to make a shallow bowl indent about ½ inch wide an 1/8 inch deep, the others are just drilled into the bricks in a random patter about the face of the model. The base is covered with sand an wood glue. To paint I based with spray ink, after that I dunked a Kebab stick onto some black paint an dripped it into every hole, was the only way I could get paint into the holes I made, the bunker is brushed with dark grey an dry brushed with a dusty yellow. The base is brushed with a dirt brown an then a lighter coat of orange an finally dry brushed the same dusty yellow. The iron beams are cereal box card cut into strips an glued together an painted rust colour, the spikes are Kebab sticks glued into the foam. Final touches are the big "41" on the back. The door is also cereal box cardboard cut out an painted gun-metal grey. There are plans of this model available if any one wants them and it has also been suggested that if you had two of these you could have a fun game of "capture the flag" Kind regards Dennis Bryson.
