By ELSQUID - Dec. 31, 1969 Molds Used - Octagon Tower Mold #63 and Wizard's Tower Mold #50Dimensions - 7.5" x 8" x 7". It consists of about 420 bricks. Construction - My goal was to build a hexagon tower for use with Mage Knight to match the standard terrain template E for a gatehouse. To start out I cut out a copy of the standard terrain template and glued it to some thin cardboard. I based the design on the octagon tower, but needed to modify the angle of the joints. To do this I built a sanding jig so I could sand all of the joint bricks to the correct angle. For the smaller bricks, it was usefull to glue them to a larger brick first, which made it easier to handle for the sanding. Since the hexagon tower is much larger than the octagon tower, the floor tiles could not be used. The floor of the hexagon tower is just the thin cardboard painted. The upper floor is painted foam core board and just sits on several bricks glued to the inside of the tower. For the bottom floor windows I used the arrow slits with crosses from the octagon tower mold. For the upper floor I used several different windows: round windows and straight arrow slits from the wizard's tower mold and brick archways from the octagon tower mold. I built the tower so it separates, allowing you to remove the top 2/3 of the tower making line of sight measurements easier. This makes things a little simpler when playing Mage Knight.
