Single Tile Entry - Columns and Rubble

By ELSQUID - Dec. 31, 1969

Molds Used - Large Flagstone Mold #265 and Dragon's Teeth Accessory Mold #80

Dimensions - This is a single tile so it is 5 squares x 5 squares or (7.5" x 7.5"). It is about 2" tall at the highest point.

Construction - My goal was to recreate the column and rubble room that appears on several of the Mage Knight dungeon maps. Since I wanted to label the rubble squares, I picked the flagstone piece with the large square in the corner and used these in the spaces where the rubble would appear. I glued all of the flagstone squares to a piece of foam core board.

To build the columns, I just glued together bases and the long columns from the Dragon's Teeth mold. I used pliers to break the columns off so it would look like the columns were broken, accounting for the rubble on the floor. I glued the column rubble to cardboard and decided that it would be ok for the rubble to overlap into the column squares since those squares block movement anyway.

I painted the floor and column pieces separately and then assembled the tile. To label the rubble squares as hindering terrain, I printed out the labels on my printer. I attached them by wetting the square with matte varnish, attaching the label and then adding more varnish on top. The finished tile was then given a matte varnish.

(Note that the second set of pictures are just larger versions of the first set.)
