 thieves stronghold

By KAINE63 - Dec. 31, 1969

molds used---- basic block--gothic dungeon molds #'s 40-41-42 and 43--4" round tower--8" round tower--prison tower--turret--roman temple--

height= 2' width= 3' depth= 4'

i split this into 2' x 3' sections.the round outer walls were built from a combo of the round tower blocks and basic blosks, slightly sanding some to get a curved shape.the dock was made from the gothic accessories molds with steps leading down to the ship. The ship was made out of a foam center with warped balsa wood shaped around it. the sails and riggings are made from a red bandanna and white thread. the drawbridge defense is also made out of balsa wood,with tiny hinges making it a working drawbridge. the medieval version of a lighthouse is a 2" PVC tube w/ posterboard fins. Inside is an electric candlestick with a flame flicker bulb inside to simulate the fire that guides the ships to port.in my thought of an ancient lighthouse i left the domed roof open to allow smoke to escape from the lit beacon. the spikes on the outer wall are stainless steel cones normally used to add studs to leather jackets. my design was in the idea of not being able to get up to the 2nd tier of the inner wall without first fighting your way through the the inside of the mountain stronghold.This would allow thier army to still repel attackers without the risk of being challanged in hand to hand combat.all the painting except the detail on the waters edge, was done with an airbrush....using varing shades of grey,black,brown and blue to create the layered look....
