 Merchant’s House

By TODD_GOSS - Dec. 31, 1969

The small brick, wood plank, and wood shingle mold were the primary molds used. Also used were shutters from the dragons inn mold, a recessed block from the fieldstone accessory mold to make the back window and blocks from the gothic bridge mold to make the chimney, and of course the standard HA door. The house measure 10 inches high, 4 deep, and 6 inches wide. Foam board was used for the buildings core. Out side steps from the small brick mold lead to the second floor. Usally you don't see the small bricks used much for 28mm models, but for a residental home I felt they were more in scale and would not over power the model. The plank mold was used for all the trim pieces as well as the all wood section on the upper part of the home. Dental plaster was dabed to fill the space between the planks, a few randon small brick sections show through were the plaster has "worn away" I simply cut holes in the foam board and glued in a section of bricks were I wanted then to show. To get a veriety of shutter sizes I cut them down a little for two of the windows. Some Armor Cast pieces were used to make the window that overhang in the back of the bulding. Brass wire mesh was set in the front and back window for detail. The paint job is the best I ever did, which I know is not saying much, it looks much better in person and may even please Mitch. Basically I used ink washes and lots of dry brushing. Thanks for checking out my house! Todd
