 Dungeon Altar

By GAMER - Dec. 31, 1969

The base and the stairs use pieces from the Gothic Floor mold and the Bell Tower. My original idea was for a straight stair across the front, but when I was fitting pieces together I thought up the jagged design. The steps use the trim pieces from the Bell Tower. In order to make the pieces fit on the inside corners I had to file a 45 degree angle to the edges. Since there was no 1/2" version of this block, the 1" pieces had to be cut down to 1/2" size. I also managed to make the raised floor tile loose, so it can be removed to reveal treasure or whatever else you want the party to find. The torches are made with pieces from the Gothic Dungeon Builder mold. The fancy column cap has the bowl trimmed down and set on top of it. To keep the flames unique, I made them using air drying clay.

The walls of the alter are pretty much from the Gothic Dungeon Builder mold. The execption is the pedastal for the statues. These pieces are from the Bell Tower mold. I built each wall laying flat, and then once the glue dried I put the two walls together and glued them to the floor.

The statues are figs from Reaper Miniatures. I originally had these painted black with glossy highlights, but didn't like the effect. In the end I just highlighted them the same colors as the rest of the piece.
