By YRM - Dec. 31, 1969 BUILDING HISTORY:The Green Dragon Inn is a staple of my Dagger Falls tabletop and has gone through various periods of ownership. A half-timbred structure that offers a kitchen, bar, and five rooms, this inn has seen it's share of fights and beginning adventuring parties, just getting ready to set foot on the road for the first time. ABOUT THE STRUCTURE: The total size is 14"W x 10"D x 12"T The Green Dragon Inn was the first Hirst Art structure I ever attempted after buying my first molds. In some ways, while my techniques have improved over time, there is more warmth and heart in this model than any of my other models. I tried some things, like what I did with the crossing angles on the roof, that were very very hard to pull off. Because I was a novice, I didn't know any better and, by the time I realized how tough it'd be to do the roof, it was too late to give up! I think it was Todd Goss who recommended that I clean up the seams in the wood planks that were running in the same grain direction with modeling putty, and, I've since done that as well as touched up a few other areas. When I put my gaming table out at a recent convention, the Green Dragon Inn got more positive comments and curiosity than the Magic Shoppe and Temple of Lathander combined. Since I'd never entered this in a HADD, I checked with Scott to make sure it was ok (yep), and decided to enter the piece. The painting on the wall in the inn is actually a 3D illustration that I did several years ago that's published in the 3DS Max 4 Bible by Kelly Murdock (so I didn't just steal some cool pic off the net or something). There are many pieces of furniture built out of HA stuff and things like paper towels painted to serve as the bed sheets. The bar is made of Tomb pieces and the Stove in the kitchen is Turret Mold. My D&D Gaming group has used this model more than any other and had several fights, drinking games, and adventure hooks happen in this warm and inviting house of ale. MOLDS USED: 045 - Gothic Dungeon Builder 050 - Wizard's Tower 051 - Dragon's Inn 056 - Tomb Mold 060 - Prison Tower Mold 061 - Turret Mold 201 - Floor Tile Mold 205 - Gothic Floor Tile Mold 240 - Wood Shingle Mold While some of you may have seen this inn in other photos, I hope that these new photos, taken with more care, are interesting. Imagine a gaming group getting it's adventuring career started at the Green Dragon Inn. Anyone considering trying Hirst Arts molds for the first time should know that the community is very supportive. When I made this model, I had lots of questions but received a large amount of friendly and helpful answers from the community.
