By DUKEDREAL - Dec. 31, 1969 Haggart’s HouseDimensions: 11 inches tall by 24 inches long by 24 inches wide for base with trees Building itself is 8 ½ inches tall by 19 inches long by 10 inches wide (not including escape tunnel) Molds Used: Fieldstone Wall Mold #70, Fieldstone Accessories Mold #71, Fieldstone Bridge Mold #74, Dragon's Teeth Accessory Mold #80, Egyptian Tomb Accessory Mold #97, Egyptian Temple Accessory Mold #98 (sphinx), Cracked Floor Tiles Mold #203, Wooden Plank Mold #220, Wood Shingle Roof Mold #240, Flagstone Floor Tile Mold #260, Large Flagstone Accessory Mold #266 (doors) Construction: The inspiration for this piece came from watching Harry Potter, the third movie, over and over again on HBO, they seemed not able to play anything else for at least two months. Anyways while watching it my eye was always drawn to Haggart’s house. So I became inspired to create my own version of it. I added details, such as what is in the second section of the house, Haggart’s bed, and that he has a basement below hidden under a floor mat. The base for this was 2 foot by 2 foot piece of particle board with a section of 2 inch thick pink insulation foam added to create some dimension and hills. This allows for a basement to be added to the structure. The pumpkin patch is made from terra cotta colored sculpey and vines. The scarecrow is a paper towel draped over a section of foam with bamboo skewers for the arms. The head is a pumpkin made from sculpey. The trees are made from wooden dowels roughed up and then stained with walnut stain. The tree body is made from industrial scrubbers cut into rings and then pulled apart. The leaves texture was added by spraying the pieces with spray adhesive and then dusted with fine Woodland Scenics evergreen. They were then planted into place. Several different types of scrubbers were used to give slightly different visual effects to the trees. Fluff: The cottage on the side of the mountain is set for the groundskeeper. In this case Haggart has lived here for several years. Even adding on a full basement, with a hidden escape tunnel, which no one else knows about. He would have had it finished sooner if those three pesky kids weren’t always interrupting him!
