 Ruined Imperial Hab Block

By DAVOUT - Dec. 31, 1969

I was inspired to start this project while coming home on the bus one day. There was this great old apartment building with two wings and a courtyard in the entrance. The design was simple and I felt that it could be easily replicated using HA bricks. I had wanted to do a large ruined Imperial building for a long time and so I got to casting.

The build is based on foam core, with the cracked tile floor forming the foundation of the build. I went for a two story look with all the major components being modular. This allows for miniatures to be placed within the building and moved around.

I went for a less ornate façade then the current GW buildings. This is an industrial Hab, a poor working man’s residence. It’s a grim, joyless place with few windows or creature comforts. Yet, what it lacks in domestic charm it makes up for in defensive utility. Its thick walls can resists most small arms and its few windows provide excellent cover for men, fuel and ammunition. This particular Hab has seen some heavy action, as illustrated by the ruined corner. Despite this obvious damage the building still acts as a strong point for the brave defenders of the Imperial Guard.

The figures in the various pictures are all from GW, the gargoyles are from Spooky Town.

Thanks for looking, and as always comments and criticisms are welcome
