By ABAROTH - Dec. 31, 1969 Background:A building which was constructed as a present for a friend. It was designed to store all his Munchkin stuff, and could also double as a piece of games terrain. The door and treasure cards are stored in separate card-shoe sections, with the dice hiding away in the roof. Measurements: Length 7” Width 5” Height 7¾” Moulds Used: #45 Gothic Dungeon Builder #54 Gothic Church #55 Bell Tower #201 Floor Tiles #240 Wood Shingles Custom Blocks: Half-timbered wall tiles Door Other Materials: Matt-board Ready-mixed filler (spackle) Cereal packet Basswood Velcro Ribbon PVA glue Superglue Inscribe acrylic paints GW inks Tricky Sections: Rather than describe the infinite tedium of gluing every block together, I’ll just talk you through some of the more awkward areas of the model, and the solutions I found to the problems. Obstacle: Main Roof #1 - the card shape Solution: This is not too difficult to achieve. Basic instructions can be found in the “tutorials” page of my web site - http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/abarothsworld/ It is a full-hipped roof, found in the first pitched roof tutorial. Obstacle: The dice compartment Solution: In order to store the dice in the roof section, I attached the Munchkin packaging to a piece of matt-board. I taped this to the long edge of the sloping roof, and added a ribbon and some velcro to allow it to be opened and closed easily. Obstacle: Removable ends Solution: The ends had to made in such a way that they would be secure when in place, but could easily be removed for play. I left gaps in the floor to act as sockets, and sanded two pieces to achieve a snug, but not tight fit. The end is tilted outward slightly, to unlock the basswood joint in the centre, and then lifted from the socket to remove it.
