A derelict monastery
A derelict monastery View ]
  • Abstract :  This was also made at the same time as the graveyard. I bought two Warhammer 40K ruined buildings and painted them grey, then painted everything over with chestnut and green ink to achieve a coherent theme of the ruins. This building was probably a chapel in the past, but now only it's ruins remain... This picture is a bit blurry but the rest of them are better quality.

a dark entrance to an underground passage! (Still in the making so no pictures of that yet)

    A derelict graveyard
    A derelict graveyard View ]
  • Abstract :  This is a ruined graveyard that I made a couple of years back. The gravestones are taken from the skeleton sprue, as well as the iron spikes on the remaining wall sections (tips of the skeletons' spears and two swords). The wall is made out of stone-coloured Fimo mass (you can model it like clay and when satisfied with the look, you put it in the owen and bake it for 30 minutes to make it hard like plastic), the sarcophagus in the middle is made out of plaster with inset skeleton parts and shield icons. I wanted the place to look really worn down and grown over with mould, so I've painted the stone parts with a mixture of green and chestnut ink which turned out quite well IMHO... The spikes have also been painted with chestnut ink to give them a rusty look.
The dry bushes are actually bits of coloured moss that I got in a hobby shop where I was buying the trees.

    The black sarcophagus
    The black sarcophagus View ]
  • Abstract :  This is the unholy black sarcophagus, where the vampire count Thomas von Carstein rests during daylight.
It was made out of cardboard and styrofoam, then painted black with shiny green marble line effects (to represent the wyrdstone deposits in the marble). The side icons are from the skeleton shield sprue, painted burnished gold and copper. The figure on the lid is actualy part of a pendant I used to wear (originaly it was a small replica of a tumi, an incan sacrificial knife used to cut throats, I've just cut off the blade part at the bottom). Becouse it's made out of copperish metal, I have just painted it over with chestnut and black ink to give it a tarnished look.
When the exterior was finished, I covered it with glossy varnish to preserve it's timeless beauty ;)
