Viridian vs Junkers, 1000 pts.

Junkers:
Auralian
1 Squad of Praetorian Guards
3 Korvus Walkers
2 Squads of Convict Legionnaires/Lictors
1 Squad of Grenadier Legionnaires/Lictor
1 Squad of Suicide Bombers/Lictor

Viridians:
Icarus Trask & 3 Shock Marines
1 Squad of Commandos
2 small squads of Marines (with grendade launchers and one sniper)
2 Heavy Chain Gun emplacements
2 Mortars
4 Terrasaurs (incl 1 Sgt & 1 HQ)

Had a new player playing the Junkers, and my son (7yrs old) helped me by playing the mortars and Terrasaurs. I purposefully ensured there were nine units to allow for new players to join in if they wanted too.

TURN ONE
Had subsequent missed shots with the recoiless cannon and the mortars, both of us advanced some troops, traded shots and a couple casualties, but the REAL action started when the Commandos used their Infiltrate skill to ambush some legionnaires for two casualties. The Commandos were in turn set upon by a Korvus walker, who ran into their midst and kicked and stomped on them for three casualties. Another walker went down near tables edge with some concentrated firepower, and the Grenadiers advanced behind the Praetorians "Shield Wall" skill effectively blocking any fire. The Shock Marines made a bee-line for the Korvus that was endangering the Commandos, but could not close the distance.

TURN TWO
The Commandos shot everything they had at the Korvus, including using two flamethrowers whose template overlapped some of the Praetorian Guard. To little effect... no damage to the Malker, and one Guard down. The Commandos took shotguns and a flame hit from a squad of Legionnaires barely in LOS, and next activation phase took a volley of shotgun blasts from the Praetorians and the Grenadiers (the Junker general did not want to take a chance tossing grenades into the midst of his Walker, but was willing to chance shotguns). The Commandos were reduced to mincemeat - it was not a pretty sight...

TURN THREE
The Shock Marines made it to the Korvus and tore it up using their Vibro-Scythes - - another Korvus down. We traded off a few more missed shots and movement, but due to the high points involved, and the time spent teaching, game had to be called for time. Viridian player claimed victory due to comparative total point value destroyed.

It was a blast and we had the chance to try out the assault phase of combat (was not able to try it out previous games), saw the use of skills to GREAT effect (Infiltrate and Shield Wall), and got more familiar with using divergent units in concert to support one another.
