Ironclad aerial view

	Abstract :	This shows the balsa upper deck with working hatch. The hatch is a plastic protective screw cover from a mailbox. The cannon in the turret is from Model Expo Online. The handle for the bow mounted swivel gun is a decorative tooth pick.

Ironclad

	Abstract :	Actually, plastic-clad, but ironclad sounds tougher. A scratch-built ironclad based on the Flagships Games version. The hull was made from 1/2 inch foam core and then covered with 0.060 plastic card. Turrets a section of Pringle's can. Smokestack is the cover from a cheap Dollar Store felt tip pen and the swivel gun is the insert from the end of the same felt-tip pen. Used a lot of red and brown weathering powder to simulate rust.

Muslin cloth sail

	Abstract :	This is a close-up of the muslin cloth I used for a sail on one of our Pirates! ships. The weave in the fabric is very tight. I think it looks okay for small scale modeling.

Checkerboard ribbon

	Abstract :	I found this spool of checkerboard patern ribbon in a fabric store. I wanted to add detail to my brig and this seemed to fit the bill. It has a weave which suggests a woodgrain to me so I figured it could work.

Another lantern

	Abstract :	Thes lanterns were originally from the Pirates Battle Game from Pressman Toys. I thought they were too big on the original ship so I just painted them and put them on a larger ship.
