Well it was another fun weekend of Confrontation at my local gaming store, Millennium Games & Hobbies. Here's how it went.
Acheron Forces:
8 * Morbid Puppets
3 * Ghouls
3 * Zombies
Chagall the EverHungry
Gorgon w/ Tenebrous Scarification & Dance of death
Spectre
Total = 406 points
Alahan Forces:
The Red Lioness on Foot
Female Bard w/ Fearless Glory
3 * Falconers
3 * Reapers
3 * Swordsmen
2 * Paladins
1 * Guardsmen w/ War pike
Total = 401 pts.
We started off with me winning the Approach roll. My opponent set up in a scattered fashion while I formed a battle line between two ruined buildings on my side of the table.
Turn 1: I lost the Tactical roll with a 1 (imagine that ;)). My opponent moved toward me but I did not move. One of my reapers managed to hit a morbid puppet and lightly wounded it. Gorgon made one of his morbid puppets Tenebrous scarification.
Turn 2: I roll another 1 for the Tactical roll. My opponent moves closer. I charge one ghoul with three Swordsmen. They auto pass fear. Spectre charges one Swordsmen. Swordsmen is within Lioness' command range and auto pass fear. Lioness charges Spectre. My reapers and Falconers manage to kill a morbid puppet. Gorgon Casts Tenebrous scarification on a ghoul It is a short fight and the Lioness pursues into a Zombie It dies as well. The ghoul holds off all of my swordsmen and only receives a light wound.
Turn 3: I again lose tactical. Lioness is charged by Scarred puppet and Ghoul as well as a non-scarred ghoul. Guardsman and a paladin charge a zombie. Swordsmen are charged by morbid puppets and a zombie. Bard moves up to within 10cm of Lioness. Chagall charges a reaper as does a puppet. Reaper passes fear. The other paladin charges Chagall. Gorgon charges paladin on Chagall (moves to far to cast spells). Chagall and Puppet chew through the Reaper and pursue into Paladin on Gorgon. Gorgon and Chagall chew through Paladin. Gorgon pursued back toward the center of table (better field of view). 2 Morbid puppets and zombie fail to hurt one swordsman. Other Swordsman fails to wound lightly wounded ghoul. Other Swordsmen wounds puppet seriously. Guardsman and Paladin manage to stun a zombie. The Lioness wins initiative and drops attack to 1 to get more dice for combat. Ghouls and Puppet attack and do not hurt her. she lands a light wound on the non-scarred ghoul.
Turn 4: I roll another 1 for tactical. Chagall and puppet charge Falconer. Puppet charges reaper. Gorgon detonates morbid puppet in base contact with a paladin, Swordsman, lightly wounded ghoul and formerly stunned Zombie (difficulty number is 8 thus str of blast is 4). Paladin is stunned, Swordman is seriously wounded, ghoul goes to serious wound and zombie becomes seriously wounded. Gorgon tries to detonate puppet in base with the Lioness... and fails even after spending extra gems for spell mastery. He stops seeing that he has done little damage to me and lots to himself. Falconer shoots into combat at Chagall and hits. Stuns Chagall. A Reaper and falconer fire into combat at seriously wounded zombie one hits and takes him to critical (I was taking chances and getting lucky at these shots into HTH). Chagall and puppet fail to kill Falconer (it was amazing dice rolls on my behalf) they did wound him lightly. Reaper kills puppet and pursues toward the Gorgon (in anticipation of shooting it next turn). Seriously wounded swordsman falls to the Puppet and zombie they pursue... zombie into another swordsman. Puppet into Formerly stunned paladin. Paladin slays puppet pursues into criticalled zombie. The Guardsman and Paladin finish off Critcalled Zombie. Seriously injured ghoul fights swordsman and ghoul is taken to critical. Zombie and other surviving swordman face off and zombie is lightly wounded. The Red lioness continues to fight against three opponents. She deflects all of their attacks and seriously injures the already wounded ghoul.
Unfortunately we did not have time to continue the game. It was getting very interesting. I think things were going to get more interesting shortly. It was pure luck that chagall was held up by my falconer. The next turn would have been a very telling one indeed. I learned that I need to keep track of my special abilities in the game. I kept the bard close to the lioness and then forgot everytime to use her reroll ability the first two turns I forgot to use the falcons for the falconers. once I started using them though they made the difference in the combat with Chagall and also helped curb the Gorgons spellcasting. Excellent Game. I hope to be able to continue posting regular battle reports but things are going to be interrupted by the busy holiday schedule.
***I hope you enjoy my battle report. Let me know what you think good, bad, tactically or otherwise. *** Thanks.
