JST Design Sculpting Contests 2006:
Overview:
JST Design is hosting two sculpting contests for 2006:
Contest 1:
GladEX: GladEX is a game of gladiatorial battles set in the tech/fantasy genre, where small teams fight in the gladiatorial arena. Though most characters are gladiators, they are not the Roman gladiators we have come to know. They are highly trained teams of warriors who compete with other teams for glorious prizes. Some gladiators have gun-type weapons, while others have the traditional melee weapons. There are 4 categories for this contest. Scale for this contest is: Human height is 28mm.
Contest 2:
Mach 13: Mach 13 takes place a post-modern era where Earth is controlled by three warring nations. To add to this issue, an alien race intent on enslaving humans has taken control of an island in the Indian Ocean. This game consists of high-speed vehicle battles, where air, ground, and naval forces fight to gain territory in this global struggle. There are 4 categories for this contest. Scale for this contest is: Human height is 1mm.
Categories:
Contest 1:
Gladiators: Any single models representing the gladiators that compete in combat.
Elites: Warriors so skilled, they fight alone, rather than with a team.
Gladiator Team: A group of models (5-10) that work as a team on the battlefield. Must include 1 sergeant, and may include two specialized units (heavy weapons, etc).
Arena Monster: Not all gladiator fights are human versus human, many have monsters involved. Monsters may be alone (for large monsters) or in a small group (5 or less, for smaller monsters).
Contest 2:
Air Vehicles: The human armies make use of hypersonic jets, and the alien army uses hovering vehicles for air combat.
Ground Vehicles: Tanks, artillery, and other related vehicles make up this category.
Naval Vehicles: Domination of the sea will be key in this future struggle, and all sides have battleships and vessels designed to destroy the opposition in the oceans.
Weaponry: In Mach 13, weapons like missiles, torpedoes, and bombs will have separate models that identify them. Pay attention to scale for these weapons (most are extremely small).
Rules:
1. Contest entries are submitted as photos on the void gamers website, in the miniature painting category. Include at least three different images, high-resolution preferred. Only images with the title “JST Contest” followed by the artist’s name, and the name of their entry, will be judged. If your Voidgamers account information does not display your e-mail, include your e-mail in the image description.
2. No profanity of any kind will be allowed on any sculpture.
3. Images of your model may include painted images, but this will not affect your chances of winning.
4. In the event that you win, a hard copy of your model must be produced and sent to the address given to the winner. After a hard copy is received, the rights to the miniature belong to JST Design. Prizes will be given to category winners. If the miniature is sold, the artist will receive credit for the design.
5. Winners will be contacted ahead of time. If you do not agree to the terms in rule 4, you will be automatically disqualified. A hard copy is a resin or metal casting of the miniature.
6. Original work only. The miniature must not have been used for previous contests, and not previously shown in public (i.e., on a website).
7. The miniature must have been created especially for this contest, and may not be used again if the model wins the contest.
Contest Dates:
The contest beginning and end are to-be-announced. The winners will be posted on October 10th.
