I just noticed this question. I'm not sure that I understand your question. Are you talking about using it as a base or for walls and floors? We use a wide variety of materials to make our terrain. We use a lot of polystyrene and it doesn't take much to support it. Generally a good glue is enough to hold it in place. i hope that answers your question. Aloha, SP
